Why
outsource the designs ?
The
semiconductor industry has history of
outsourcing complicated sub-tasks. Outsourcing
began in the 1960s with mask making, test, and assembly. The trend
continued in the 1970s, and the 90s began the start of the consumer
silicon IP business. Outsourcing made sense when the complexity of a
task is high - relative to the end product differentiation it
provides.

The
EDA Consortium estimates that semiconductor design services are currently
less than 1% of worldwide chip sales, yet is one of the
fastest growing segments. In addition, the semiconductor
industry has hit serious recruitment and hiring challenges in the past
several years of design expertise. Combined, these factors
are the driving force behind the explosive rate of growth in all
areas.
We
provide chip level flows using
customer supplied tools and foundry specific
libraries and standard cells to build ASICs. In addition, patrons can get IP cores listed under
the IP Design link.
We
are also an IP provider which
develops, tests and validates IP cores by combining our own IPs
as well as using our
customer products for derived IPs.
